Cicak Problem

July 1st, 2009 by chaikimlim

I think “cicak” is a nicer name to call than lizard, so for people who do not understand malay, “cicak” is lizard in the Malay language. I think the pronunciation of “cicak” suits the animal very much. I wonder who created this word… He or she is a genius.

So let me tell you a short story of this problem I have. Of late, I’ve spotted a few cicak shit on my kitchen counter where I microwave, bake and make drinks. I would wipe them off and then they appear again. I wipe and they appear again. It went on for days. I saw the cicak running a few times too. It is just a small one.

Then I couldn’t stand it anymore. What if the cicak bring some disease? I had to do something. I don’t have the guts to catch it so I went and buy a cicak trap.

I followed the instructions on the box. Setup the trap on the kitchen counter with much anticipation.

Set the trap on the kitchen counter.

I waited and waited. Checked and checked. 2 days passed. still nothing trapped.

Side view of the trap. See? No cicak.

Maybe the cicak does not find the bait attractive. It’s a pill (it comes with the trap). What an attitude. Maybe the lizard is too light to get stuck to the sticker. Maybe the cicak is smart and can recognize that it’s a trap. Afterall, there is a picture of the cicak (and a cockcroach) on top of the trap or maybe I didn’t setup the trap properly or the trap just doesn’t work.

For 2 days I wondered and wondered. I still see the little fellow hiding under my microwave. I managed to corner the cicak by using a fly swatter to go into the trap. Then I got my answer to why the trap doesn’t work.

:

That cicak just ran through the trap like nobody’s business! Sigh…

40% more to go

April 10th, 2009 by chaikimlim

On 23rd Oct 2008, I posted a blog entry about what happened to my toes after the hike down Mount Kinabalu. I’m happy to update that the toenails are regrowing. Thank God. The smaller toe nail on my left foot has fully regrown. However, the big toe on my right foot has about 40% to go.

Why are shortcakes called shortcakes not shortbiscuit or shortcookies and why short?

January 9th, 2009 by chaikimlim

Photos by Sharon Wong, a friend from church, of the shortcakes I gave her for Christmas.

Christmas and New Year came and went so fast and now Chinese New Year is coming. Time really flies. Hope everyone made full use of the time given, be it to achieve goals, bless someone or just sit back and relax.

Do you ever wonder why God created so many types of living creatures?

And the different attitude they have?
